Running my fingers
along the table top,
I feel the deep grooves
of "Toby loves Melissa"
wondering
where Toby is now,
and if he still loves Melissa.
I see the inked "DK + RV - TLA"
and wonder if it is still DK and RV
or if RV is now RK
or even RK-V
or maybe RM.
So many old loves
recorded on this table.
I wonder
how many of these loves
have lasted as long
as the marks they made
on this table.
