The caffeine buzz sets in
as the music drifts across
and across the room
the seeing eyes -
what do they see?
I wonder, my mind wanders
but stays in the same neighborhood
looking down the same old streets.
Has there been
a new building on the block?
Why should I think
that any attention comes my way?
besides wishful thinking -
Will I ever find
the look I'm looking for?
